If you wear make-up or not, I think it is important to have a good facial wipe in your beauty arsenal. I've been using cleansing wipes since I was about 13 (almost nine years... ouch). Over the years I have tried A LOT of different brands and wipes. Although they all have one goal, to cleanse your face from dirt and left-over make-up, there are certainly noticeable differences between them. I'll walk you through the seven most recent face wipes I've used in 2014 and what I like (or dislike) about them.
(I have combination and acne-prone skin)
Option 1: Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes
I started using these a few years ago when my face was breaking out really bad. They are great for sensitive skin and do a pretty awesome job at removing makeup. They also don't leave a greasy residue on your face which is something that is really important to me. I think are the best option on the list for a good all-around wipe.
Option 2: Simple Radiance Cleansing Wipes
These wipes are similar to the regular simple wipes, but they have a mild soothing scent, unlike the other simple products. I prefer to use these in the morning to refresh my face. They do remove make-up, but I find that the original cloths work better for heavy makeup removal.
Option 3: Simple Oil Balancing Cleansing Wipes
The final wipe from Simple is what I highly recommend for those with oily skin. They are a great alternative for Option 7, if you are wanting something more affordable. They leave your skin oil-free but they also keep oil away all day. I also prefer to use these in the morning or before I apply my makeup to remove any oil from my face, and to prevent oil ruining my foundation throughout the day.
Option 4: Neutrogena Oil-Free Cleansing Wipes
These wipes are fabulous for those of you with acne. Whenever I'm having heavy breakouts I pick up these wipes. They are oil-free and designed for acne-prone skin. They also remove makeup, however, I would avoid rubbing your eye area too much. If too much of the cleanser gets into your eye it can burn a little bit. These also have a great grapefruit smell which is a little strong but fades away pretty quickly.
Option 5: Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
These are the first wipes that I ever used when I was 13. They are the absolute best you can get for removing your makeup. I would recommend these to anyone who using a good bit of makeup on a daily basis and is looking for a wipe that will remove all of it. However, these do leave a greasy layer on your skin so it is important that you face your face afterwards.
Option 6: Boots Expert Sensitive Cleansing & Toning Wipes
At only $4.69, these are definitely the most affordable wipes on the list. They are great for people with sensitive skin and leave your face feeling refreshed. They also do not leave a heavy residue, but you will notice it takes a minute for your face to dry after use. A great option for those who are price conscious but also want a product that works.
Option 7: Ole Henriksen Grease Relief Cleansing Cloths
The final wipes I recommend are are these Grease Relief cloths from Ole Henriksen. Although they are the most expensive, I highly recommend these to anyone who is having a major problem with their face being oily throughout the day (and breaking through their makeup). I don't recommend using these as makeup removing cloths, but rather as a refresher for your face in the mornings. These cloths have a texture that gently exfoliates your skin and have a calming eucalyptus smell. When I use these wipes I notice a huge difference in the amount of oil the my face produces throughout the day.
I hope this helped you pick out your next cleansing cloths to try!
